Justice Erin Peradotto to seek re-election to NYS Supreme Court

Justice Erin M. Peradotto announced today that she is seeking re-election to the New York State Supreme Court in the 8th Judicial District.

The 8th Judicial District includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties.

Justice Peradotto has 32 years of experience as a lawyer and judge. She was elected to the Supreme Court in 2003 and was elevated to the Appellate Division, 4th Department in 2006 by Governor Pataki. She has been included three times on the short list for appointment to New York’s highest court, the New York State Court of Appeals.

Justice Peradotto is a member of the Ethics Commission for the Unified Court System and the SUNY at Buffalo Dean’s Advisory Council. She is a past President of the Bar Association of Erie County and headed the New York State Attorney General’s Buffalo office from 1997-1999. She has taught at the SUNY at Buffalo Law School and is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education programs.

Justice Peradotto has received numerous awards for her leadership, commitment and service to the legal profession and community, including the Distinguished Alumna award from the SUNY at Buffalo Law School, the M. Dolores Denman Lady Justice Award from the Western New York Chapter of the New York State Women’s Bar Association, and the Lamplighter Award from the 8th Judicial District Gender & Racial Fairness Committee.
