FREDONIA — Nazareth scored nine straight goals to overtake Fredonia, 13-10, in non-conference women’s lacrosse Thursday at University Stadium.

The Golden Flyers (5-3) used the run to turn an 8-4 deficit into a 13-8 lead. The Blue Devils (1-7) scored the final two goals but time ran out on their comeback just as the cold, gray afternoon turned into a downpour.

Audrey Yokopovich had five goals, Katie Miller three goals, and Samantha Spiess one goal and five assists to lead Fredonia’s scoring. Jade Williams also had a goal.

Yokopovich was credited with 11 draw controls. That is among the top single-game totals in program history. In addition, the 20 saves by Nicole Burrows ties for the single-game school record, according to the most current available statistics. There have been 20 saves by a Fredonia keeper four other times.

Haley DeVona led Nazareth with four goals while Kate Rothrock had three goals and two assists. Gabbie Charles also had three goals.

The Blue Devils turn to SUNYAC competition Saturday when they play host to the Potsdam Bears at 1 p.m.
