Lineup set for Memorial Day in Dunkirk

The Memorial Day Service and Parade will assemble Monday.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. in Memorial Park on Lake Shore Drive West and will be conducted by the participating organizations of the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council.

The 2016 Master of Ceremonies is John D’Agostino, DJVC and publisher, Dunkirk OBSERVER.

The Memorial Day Parade will start at approximately 11 a.m. and proceed East on Lake Shore Drive West to Central Avenue.

The Parade will turn onto Central Avenue and proceed south to Fifth Street. The Parade turns East on Fifth Street and disbands at Washington Park.

In case of inclement weather the parade will be canceled.

Should the rain continue, Memorial Day Services will be at V.F.W. John T. Murray Post 1017, 113 Second St. Dunkirk, N.Y.

The 2017 Parade Division Marshals are: Richard Makuch, David Taber, Dennis Mulkin and David Dow and Jack Hood.

The 2016 Parade Commentator is David Rowley, News Director, WDOE radio.

1st Division Marshal – Jack Hood, Chautauqua County American Legion commander.

2nd Division Marshal – Mr. Edziu Kaus, DJVC Trustee & Honor Guard Firing Square.

3rd Division Marshal – Mr. Thomas Haynes, DJVC Trustee and Sgt.-at-Arms.

4th Division Marshal – Mr. Michael Edwards, City of Dunkirk Fire Chief.

The public is invited to attend and the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council urges the public to fly the Flag this Memorial Day. God Bless Our Veterans and this Great Nation of Ours.

Officers and Veterans from WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, Cold War, Global War on Terror, including Iraq and Afghanistan will be part of the Honor Guard.

Greater Buffalo Firefighter Pipe & Drum formed in 2012 consisting of Firefighters, Law Enforcement Officers, E.M.S. providers and friends.

J.R.O.T.C.: The DHS Reserve Officer Training Program is instructed by Capt. Price D. Smith, U.S. Army (Ret.) and SFC Frank Torain U.S. Army (Ret.)

Dunkirk High School Band: Mrs. Jenniene Scarem, Director, The DHS Band will perform in front of the reviewing stand at City Hall.
