Brocton Portland Seniors

Brocton Portland Seniors are sponsoring bus trip to Salamanca Casino on June 20. The cost of $25 includes a free buffet and $30 slot play. Call Rita Stonefoot at 792-4565 for reservations by May 30. The bus leaves from Brocton Legion at 9 a.m. and returns about 4 p.m. The next meeting is Tuesday, May 30 at the Brocton Legion. Members are to bring a dish to pass and personal table service. New members are always welcome.

Collins 50 Plus Seniors

Activities for the week of May 28 to June 3

Sunday: Pickle Ball with Lois at 6:30 p.m., L.K. Painter Center gym or Collins Town Park.

Monday: Painter Center closed for Memorial Day.

Tuesday: Active Senior Aerobics with Kim at 9 a.m., Painter Center Gym, small fee.

Wednesday: Quilting with Florence at 10:30 a.m., Collins Library Community Room.

Collins Center Seniors

The May 22 meeting for the Collins Center Seniors was well attended and the lunch was plentiful and delicious as always. Note: members are reminded that the meetings are the fourth Monday of the month.

Passengers for the trip to Savannah, Charleston and Myrtle Beach May 5 to 12 enjoyed an awesome trip with lots of interesting tours, beautiful hotels, delicious food, a great show and an awesome driver.

The motor coach will depart from the parking lot behind the stores on Main St. in Gowanda at 8 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. for “America’s Sweethearts” on June 6.

Seats are available on June 13 for a trip to the Seneca Niagara Casino at 8 a.m. and return at 4 p.m.

June 21, members are off to the Station Dinner Theater in Erie, Pennsylvania for “Sex Please, We’re Sixty,” a hysterical “Golden Girls” style comedy and family-style lunch. Departure is set for 8:30 a.m. and return at 4:30 p.m.

Seats are available on July 17 for a Customer Appreciation Day at the Seneca Niagara Casino.

“Summertime Funtime” is planned for July 19. Travelers will meet their guide for a visit to Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, Pennsylvania, then travel to Peek n’ Peak in Clymer for lunch. In the afternoon, there will be a tour of the Reed Mansion, built in the late 1800s, and the opportunity to hear stories of the history and rebuilding. View the 17 fireplaces and Tiffany stained glass windows. Next, the group will head to Finley Lake and stop at the Candle Co. The final stop is Reverie Creamery to taste their great cheese.

Aug. 8 is the new and different killer of a “Mystery Tour.”

Seats are available for the Sept. 12 to 14 to Ohio Amish Country and more. The tour features: Amish Country, Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Canton Football Hall of Fame, Air Maps Museum, Classic Car Museum, Berlin Shopping, Warthers Carvings in Dover, McKinley Presidential Library & Museum, tour Fannie May and Harry Lundon Chocolates and much more.

On Dec. 4, the seniors will dine at the beautiful, fully-decorated Salvatore’s Italian Gardens before experiencing a fantastic show starring Terry Buchwald in “Elvis, Christmas, Country and a little bit of Rock & Roll.” There will be a visit to Woyshner’s Christmas Shoppe, and before returning home, group travelers will draw names for door prizes and a $25 gift certificate for a future trip.

Grape Belt Seniors

Find Grape Belt Seniors on Facebook. Learn about upcoming trips and events. The Facebook page is a closed group: one needs to be a member of Grape Belt Seniors to join the Facebook Group. During May, the board will be collecting dues from new members as well as from current members who wish to renew their membership.

All trips, extended as well as day trips, are open to the public; members and non-members. Fliers for all of the upcoming trips for 2017 are available at the center.

Casino trips include Customer Appreciation July 17 with payment due June 7 and Nov. 6 with payment due Oct. 1.

Casino with entertainment: Motown Sept. 19 with payment due Aug. 8 and the Temptations Dec. 12 with payment due Nov. 5.

Day trips: Watkins Glen July 10 with payment due June 7; Niagara On The Lake Aug. 24 with payment due July 24 (need passport or enhanced licence) and Vineyard Express Oct. 15 with payment due Sept. 1.

Extended trips for 2017: Reservations for the Chicago trip Sept. 18 to 21 are still available. It will be by coach for four days and three nights and will include a tour of the University of Notre Dame; a guided city tour including Grant Park and Navy Pier; an architectural cruise along the Chicago River to visit the Biograph Theater, the Holy Name Cathedral, the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, dinner theater at Tommy Gunn’s Dinner Theater, and much more.

Plans are being made for a trip to Hawaii early in 2018 and a Fall trip to Nova Scotia. The trip to Hawaii will be 10 days and nine nights, including a seven-night cruise to four of the islands. There are still reservations available for the Hawaii trip. The Nova Scotia trip will be eight days and seven nights with visits to many interesting sights.

Silver Creek Seniors

The weekly blessing began the May 23 meeting. There were grilled hot dogs, potato salad, and several other foods to eat. Next week’s luncheon will be goulash, bread, salad and cake.

Harry Suski gave an update on the progress of the renovations to the club house. Things are coming along nicely and hope to be finished soon.

This year, Memorial Day will be observed on May 29. The men and women in military service, who gave their lives defending us from the evil that still exists in this troubled world, shall never be forgotten. They were honored in song as they “Say a Prayer for the Boys (and young women) Over There” who died serving this beloved country and “America The Beautiful.” Thanks to Lorraine Bailey for remembering those who lost their lives.

Winners of the 50/50 were Bailey, Suski and Mary Ann Seibert. Door prizes went to Suski, Bailey, Bob Sutehall and Joan Suski

Bingo winners were Sue Borowski, Enabell Mirando, Bailey, Seibert, Joe Ark, Bud Anger and Ellyn Sutehall. Bingo was called by Joan Suski.

“Young At Heart” was sung before everyone pitched in for the clean up.

Westfield Senior Citizens

The May 11 meeting of the Westfield Senior Citizens was held at the YWCA. It started with a meal of sloppy Joes made by Pat Everts and salad with several kinds of fixings by Joyce Wainwright. Tom Troccoli played his guitar and sang to those present while they enjoyed the dinner. Some members sang along with him.

President Pat Sciarrino read a prayer before the meal. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. President Sciarrino read “Holy Ground.”

New members were welcomed to the club.

Minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and approved. Everts reminded members that 217 dues of $5 are due.

Dolores Kaufman, sunshine chairman, sent birthday cards to Al Wainwright, Sciarrino and Betty Ward and an anniversary card to Shirley and John Kolpien.

The 50/50 was won by Geri Harper. The door prize was won by Sciarrino.

Nancy Peters and Everts will make meat loaves for the June meeting. Dave and Ann Cochran will provide scalloped potatoes. Members are asked to provide vegetables and their own table service.

Shirley Kolpien, Eric Kriedler and Sylvia Colbey will bring desserts.

Attendees will play bingo at the June 8 meeting. A $1 donation is asked for, and also contributions of prizes.

Sciarrino closed the meeting with a prayer.
