Car hits parked tractor trailer

A female driver and her infant passenger were taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after her vehicle struck a parked tractor trailer on Route 60.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Spoden Road around 4:45 p.m., according to the trooper on the scene.

Trooper Piazza confirmed that the north-bound car struck the back of the tractor trailer parked on the east side of the roadway, resulting in damage to the front passenger side of the car and very little damage to the truck’s rear end.

“The driver was complaining of leg and abdominal pain for non-life threatening injuries and she was transported to Brooks Hospital. The infant passenger was also transported for evaluation,” Trooper Piazza told the OBSERVER.

He said no tickets were issued and traffic was held up for around 45 minutes while the accident was cleared away.

In addition to State Police at Fredonia, also responding were the Fredonia Fire Department and Alstar Ambulance.
