Arkwright resident announces candidacy

Roger Cardot

ARKWRIGHT — Lifelong Arkwright resident Roger Cardot is announcing his candidacy for Town of Arkwright Highway Superintendent left vacant last February after the retirement of Steve Mead. He is asking Arkwright residents for their support on election day Tuesday, Nov. 7.

“After serving the town for the better part of 20 years as a Town Councilman, I see a much larger need for the town that I can serve. With the knowledge that it takes in understanding the paperwork requirements in obtaining funding from county, state and federal agencies, it is not the easiest job to step into with no experience. Then when you add in the share of the upcoming monies from the windmill project that will be added to the highway budget, it is crucial that the money be spent wisely to rebuild our roads and get the most that we can from every penny, and not squandered from lack of experience. The ability to work with and calculate future budgets is crucial since the highway department has the most impact to town taxes. There is a definite need within the town, and I know that I have the ability to do the job. When coupled with my business experience as a mechanic, welder, equipment operator and experience on the town board I’ve decided to offer myself to the residents of the town in a new capacity as highway superintendent,” Cardot said.

He went on to say, “I want to thank you for your consideration in this endeavor. I also want you to know that it has been my pleasure to serve you as a councilman, and if I can serve you as your highway superintendent I will gladly do so.”
