Fredonia man facing drug charges in city
Dunkirk police have charged a 21-year-old Fredonia man on a series of charges following an investigation of suspicious activity involving a vehicle early Thursday morning.
Just after 1 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle driven by John D. Dewey, formerly of 120 Clinton St. for a traffic violation after observing suspicious activity in a known drug area. A subsequent investigation by police led to the seizure of more than an eighth of an ounce of high purity cocaine powder, several rocks of crack cocaine, a digital drug scale and assorted packaging materials as well as several hundred dollars in cash.
Dewey, who was found to be in possession of the cocaine and paraphernalia, was taken to city police headquarters on charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for intent to sell, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia.
He is being held without bail.
