NCCF approves 16 grants for almost $64,000

The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation’s board of directors approved 16 grant awards totaling $63,954 through the 2017 Fall Community Grants Program. The Community Grants Program is a biannual program that awards grants to nonprofit organizations seeking funds for projects that address northern Chautauqua’s current needs and opportunities.

NCCF awarded the following grants: Chautauqua County Sports Hall of Fame for website redesign; Cornell Cooperative Extension for “Chautauqua Grown” Program Support; Festival of Grapes for a Window Restoration Project; Dunkirk Historical Lighthouse for Furnace/Air Conditioning Installation at Gatekeeper’s House; Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Association for water, septic and electrical installation at Cherry Creek Sheriff’s Building; Chautauqua County Agricultural Society for Photo ID Software, printer and computer; Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue for Shelter Entry Roof Construction; Chautauqua Works for North County Healthcare Talent Pipeline Program; Literacy Volunteers for Translation/Tutoring Program; plusFarm for Adams Art Gallery Project; Chautauqua County Rural Ministry for a Tabletop Fruit Press and Laptops; Chautauqua County Historical Society for McClurg Museum Storm Window Installation; Food Bank of WNY for Partners Fighting Hunger Program; Dunkirk Fredonia Meals on Wheels for “Dine Well” Program; Northlake Family Recreation Center for a concrete pavilion pad; and Chautauqua Striders for a Ahira Hall SAT Workshop Series.

A volunteer committee of community representatives thoroughly reviews each application submitted to the program and in most cases completes site visits. Current Grants Committee members include Helen Baran, Jody Briggs, Jill Casey, Mac Crowe, Ann Eckman, Margaret Ferris, Virginia Harper, JoAnn Kaufman, Alex Moss, Alberto Rey, Rich Ryan and Kurt Warmbrodt. Pete Ryan serves as chairman of the committee, and Gina Paradis is the NCCF president.

The Community Grants Program awards grants twice a year. Letters of Interest for the next round of funding are due March 1.
