Mayor Landis honors Fredonia eagle scout Tuggy

Fredonia Mayor Athanasia Landis honored Joshua John Tuggy for his ability to earn the rank of an eagle scout on Friday.

Landis noted that Tuggy was a member of the Boy Scouts of America since July 2012 as well as being a part of the Order of the Arrow and achieved the quartermaster in his scout troop and assistant senior patrol leader.

He has earned 26 merit badges and the bronze palm. For his eagle scout project, Tuggy constructed six bat houses and placed them across Chautauqua County, one being at the State University of New York at Fredonia.

Tuggy is currently a junior at Fredonia High School and will have his Eagle Court of Honor presentation today.

Mayor Landis added that only a small fraction of all registered boy scouts obtain the eagle scout rank, the highest rank in scouting.
