Tractor trailer rollover leads to heroin bust

HANOVER — Deputies responded to a report Monday at around 1 a.m. of a tractor trailer in the ditch near the intersection of Route 39 and Hopper Road.

Upon arrival, the driver, Dillon J. Kohler, 25, of Dunkirk, claimed he had swerved to avoid a deer, which caused him to exit the roadway.

After an investigation deputies found Kohler to be in possession of heroin and a hypodermic instrument. Deputies also found that Kohler had an active arrest warrant out of Dunkirk.

Kohler was processed and turned over to the DPD, charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.
