Housing study public meeting March 13
With the support of Mayor Willie Rosas, City of Dunkirk Planning and Development staff and community leaders have been studying Dunkirk’s housing market since last fall with a focus on vacant and distressed properties.
This project, funded by a grant from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), has given city leaders an opportunity to survey the current condition of housing and to examine the underlying factors contributing to the housing challenges in our community.
To inform the study, a Vacant Property Task Force of community members and stakeholders has been meeting regularly to provide assistance and local knowledge to the housing consultants who have guided the project. After months of working together, the group is ready to share its findings.
Community members are invited to attend a public meeting to learn more about the state of Dunkirk’s housing market, challenges with distressed and vacant housing, and ongoing efforts to address these housing challenges. The meeting will take place in the first floor conference room at the Fredonia Technology Incubator, located at 214 Central Ave., on Tuesday, March 13 from 6 to 8 p.m.
