Police say they woke man whose vehicle was in snowbank

EVANS — An Evans Police Department officer had to be loud and vocal to wake a driver who was partially parked in a snowbank on Garfield Avenue Sunday.

At around 7:23 p.m., a vehicle was reported to be allegedly driving all over the road on Eisenhower Road. The caller gave the license plate information and updated the patrol of the driver’s location. The vehicle was registered to a Garfield Avenue resident, so after patrol did not find the driver on Kennedy Avenue (the last location the caller had), patrol checked on Garfield.

Patrol found the vehicle and noticed the driver, 61-year-old Norman G. Mook, was supposedly hunched over the wheel with the keys in the ignition and the vehicle still in drive.

“Patrol had to yell and bang on the passenger side window to wake the offender,” the report read. “When the offender (Mook) woke he looked at patrol and appeared to be extremely confused and had glassy eyes.”

Mook later allegedly failed the alphabet test.

Mook was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and a parking violation (facing the wrong way).

Mook will appear in Evans Town Court on March 12.
