Western New York Law Center expands its consumer debt defense legal clinic

JAMESTOWN — The Western New York Law Center is excited to announce its expansion of its Civil Legal Assistance and Resource Office (CLARO) project into Chautauqua County. The CLARO project provides legal advice related to consumer legal issues and assists consumer debtors with preparing legal papers to represent themselves in court to avoid unfair default judgments.

Since 2012, the Buffalo CLARO project has helped over 4,679 people with consumer debt issues, which has kept over $2,603,564 in the Western New York community.

Starting in 2017 the CLARO Project began holding free monthly walk-in sessions at Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. at 402 Chandler Jamestown, NY on the third Thursday of every month from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. At these free sessions, visitors can meet with an attorney to discuss their consumer legal issue. Visitors are encouraged to bring all paperwork related to their issue to the session.
