Western New York teachers may apply for grants

The Western Zone of the New York State Retired Teachers’ Association has announced its third annual competition for two grants of $500 each. Teachers from the five counties of Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Genesee may apply for the grants.

Letters have been sent to district union presidents or in the case of private schools, the principals of each school. These letters are designed to encourage teachers to apply for the grants. Additional information and application guidelines are available on the Western Zone website; www.wzretiredteachers.org. All applications must be submitted by May 10. The announcement of the two winners will take place no later than May 29.

The purpose of the grant project is to promote educational creativity in schools and to help enable and enhance student learning and educational awareness in their educational experience.
