County resident seeks attorney general vacancy

A Chautauqua County resident is asking the state legislature to appoint him to fill the vacancy in the office of state attorney general.

West Ellicott resident Randy Elf, a Republican, noted that the state Senate and Assembly — where Democrats outnumber Republicans by more than 100 votes — would jointly fill the vacancy.

He admits it is unlikely that any Republican would receive the appointment.

Even if he does not receive the appointment to fill the vacancy, his exploratory efforts regarding the Republican and Conservative nominations for the November election will continue.

Those efforts began in January at a private meeting of leading Republicans in Albany.

Public efforts began later that month when the state Conservative Party invited him to speak at its annual conference. The video, posted in April 2018, is at https://vimeo.com/channels/cpnys/254139021.

Since January he has traveled hundreds of miles to everywhere he has been invited, weather permitting, and met or otherwise been in touch with many wonderful, enthusiastic people from every corner of New York.
