Two from South Dayton charged in drug bust

SOUTH DAYTON — Two village residents are facing drug charges after a search warrant earlier this week by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

Officers report Laurie Newcomb, 41, and Jeremy Steves, 38, of 408 Pine St., are facing charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminally using drug paraphernalia. Agents entered the residence and found multiple bags of crystal methamphetamine, Alprazolam pills and three ounces of marijuana packaged for sale.

Multiple charges are pending with possible further arrests.

Both Newcomb and Steves were arraigned in town of Dayton court and sent to jail on $1,000 cash bail.

The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force is made up of members from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, Salamanca, Gowanda, Franklinville police members and the New York State Police.
