A look at yesteryear
SPOTLIGHT: History Days
Turn an eye toward yesteryear on July 13 & 14 as the village of Fredonia turns back the clock to celebrate the past with a variety of events for the annual Fredonia History Days – Yesterdays of Fredonia.
The two-day celebration kicks off Friday (July 13) with a classic car show, live music and food in Barker Common and a Historic Candlelight walking tour. The festivities continue Saturday (July 14) beginning with the regular Fredonia Farmers’ Market on Church Street at 9 a.m. A wide variety of vendors and merchants will set up in Barker Common, and there will be LOTS of historically-themed kid’s activities on Church Street between Temple and Center Streets! We will be showcasing six different organizations/interests throughout the day! Featured parties will be:
Fredonia Grange No. 1
DFT Communications / The Maytum Family
Fredonia Normal School
Fredonia Hart Gas Well
J.S. Lambert Hook & Ladder Company
There will also be a “Chinese” basket auction & 50/50 fundraiser over the two-day festival, including a very special fundraiser of steel artwork of the Fredonia Grange No. 1 courtesy of Echevarria Designs, LLC! Part of the proceeds will benefit Festivals Fredonia’s annual “Give Back” donation made during the Miracle on Main Street and village tree-lighting event in December. The 2018 “Give Back” recipient is The Fredonia Grange No. 1, celebrating 150 years and the first grange in the US!
