Collins man charged with DWI, marijuana possession

BRANT — A 20-year-old Collins resident is facing charges after an investigation for a suspicious vehicle parked in the road.

Around 1 a.m. today, Erie County sheriff’s deputies observed a vehicle parked in the middle of Versailles Plank Road in the town. When they approached the vehicle, they saw Vincent Thompson sleeping behind the steering wheel. After the deputies woke the subject and had him exit the vehicle, they detected the strong odor of alcohol and marijuana. Also, the deputies observed a bag of marijuana in a driver side door compartment.

Thompson failed multiple standard field sobriety tests and registered a BAC level above the legal limit. He was charged with DWI, operating a vehicle with a BAC of .08% or more and criminal possession of marijuana — more than 25 grams.

He was released on tickets and has a future court appearance for Brant Town Court.
