Reed announces grant for JCC nursing program

U.S. Rep. Tom Reed announced a $90,000 federal grant for Jamestown Community College nursing school. This grant will provide modernized training equipment and supplies.

“We care about ensuring our nursing students have fair access to practical training on modern and updated equipment,” Reed said. “This grant enables JCC nursing graduates to enter the workforce and deliver high quality care to our community with the best education possible.”

“Jamestown Community College is very pleased to receive this important ARC grant as it will help us maintain high quality nursing education for the healthcare workforce of the future,” Jamestown Community College Vice President of Academic Affairs Marilyn A. Zagora said. “Grant funds will allow us to acquire and train our nursing students on state of the art equipment that will simulate the environment in which our students will eventually practice.

“As a result, our graduates will be better prepared to provide the best healthcare possible to the citizens of our region and to make a seamless transition to employment in the many healthcare agencies throughout the area,” Zagora concluded.

With the only Registered Nursing program in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus county, JCC is uniquely position to provide high quality education to our future nurses. However, due to outdated training equipment students are not exposed to the most modern equipment used in healthcare today.

Today’s grant allows JCC nursing graduates to meet the local workforce demands for highly skilled nurses.
