RTPI to host Social Meetup at the Buffalo Zoo Aug. 20
OBSERVER Staff Report
Roger Tory Peterson, one of America’s foremost artists, naturalists and ornithologists, and creator of the Peterson Field Guide series, was one of the first to make the world of birds accessible to everyone.
In keeping with Peterson’s legacy, the Roger Tory Peterson Institute invites the community for a field trip to the Buffalo Zoo on Aug. 20 to experience Boomerang Island, an interactive exhibit comprised of more than 300 birds representing a variety of species native to the Australian Outback.
This temporary summer exhibition features a colorful cast including Budgies, Cockatiels, Princess of Wales parrots, Superb Parrots, Kookaburras, and more.
RTPI and friends will gather at the Buffalo Zoo at 10 a.m. to take advantage of the group admission rate, explore at our individual leisure, and then meet up for a lunch time social. This will be an informal event, and all attendees will be responsible for their own transportation and lunch. Anyone who would like to join RTPI and friends for what is sure to be a fun and educational way to interact with birds and bird-lovers alike, RSVP with Amy Hudson at 665-2473.
