Ahira Hall Memorial Library hosts workshop series for families of school-age children with disabilities

Ahira Hall Library, located at 37 W. Main St., Brocton, will host a series of free workshops for families of school-age children with disabilities. The workshops are sponsored by the Parent Network of Western New York. All will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. The first, “Effective Communication: Helping Families and Professionals Work Together,” will take place Monday, Sept. 24. It will address the parents’ role in the special education process, communication challenges, strategies and tools for collaboration. “What is Special Education?” is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 1. The topic for the Monday, Oct. 22 program is “How to Speak Up: Skills for Effective Parent Advocacy.” The final session on Monday, Nov. 5 will be “Understanding the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Process.” Call 332-4170 to register for the workshops.
