North Collins Police release August numbers

In August 2018, the North Collins Police Officers were on duty for 353 hours. These hours include hours officers were assigned to the Langford and New Oregon Fire Department’s Tractor Pull. On Aug. 7, an officer was assigned to the National Night Out event at the North Collins Town Park.

Police responded to 64 various requests which included some traffic stops. Of these there were two erratic operation of vehicle complaints, five suspicious vehicles, four assists to other police departments, two assists to EMS, one vehicle lock-out, one animal complaint, four community policing details and four court details.

Regular property checks were conducted of schools, businesses, public property, all town parks and vacant properties. Regular curfew checks were conducted. Traffic control details were conducted at the conclusion of Church Masses in the village and in Langford.

In total North Collins Police issued 32 traffic tickets in August including 14 for speeding. Speeds in village ranged from 47-54 MPH in a 35 MPH zone; the average being 48.85 MPH. In addition to these one ticket was issued for texting, seven for cell phone violations, five for stop sign violations, three for seat belt violations, one for an expired inspections and one for no turn signal.
