The beloved and classic tale of Little Orphan Annie comes to Pine Valley in their drama club’s production of “Annie Jr.” The musical tells the story of Annie (Katie King) who was abandoned by her parents on the front steps of the New York City Municipal Orphanage run under the strict hand of Miss Hannigan (Molly Sunick).

When invited to spend the week with billionaire Oliver Warbucks (Fred Roland) by his assistant Grace (Arryanna Bardo), Annie could not imagine how her life would forever be changed. In a search for Annie’s birthparents, Miss Hannigan schemes with her brother Rooster (Darwin Westlund) and his friend Lily (Grace Pflueger) to take Annie and the reward money that comes with her. Through the help of President Roosevelt (Damien Stanfield), Annie gets the happy family she has always dreamed of.

“Annie Jr.” features a cast of 41 fifth through eighth grade students and the elementary school’s reading dog, Bear. The show is directed by Mary Kay Himes and Allison Mullin and is produced by Lisa Caskey. The show is tonight and Saturday at 7 p.m. Student tickets cost $3 and adult tickets are $5 and can be bought at the door. Come join the students of our community in celebrating the holiday’s and this classic tale.
