Photography Art Show and Scandinavian Heritage Display set for January at Warren Public Library

The Warren Public Library Wetmore Gallery Show will take place during the month of January.

The Warren Public Library Wetmore Gallery Show will begin with an Artists’ Reception on Jan. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. Scandinavian hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided during the reception.

Monika and Peter Garami, Warren, Pennsylvania-based photographers and the organizers of the art show, celebrate the beauty of the magnificent Scandinavian North to honor the area’s local, rich Scandinavian heritage. On display during the art show will be examples of folk costumes, books from the 1800s, dolls, and photography of our Scandinavian ancestors who settled here during the late 1800s. Along with the folk displays are sophisticated and enduring photographs of the extraordinary Northern Lights as seen first hand through the Garami lenses.

Having lived in California and Arizona prior to moving to Pennsylvania gave them the opportunity to hone their talents while recording the surroundings, documenting landscapes, and perfecting their photographic skills. Monika and Peter’s goals are to share their vision of our world — a world that is perfect and sometimes imperfect – but beautiful nevertheless.

This community outreach and educational art show is made possible by the collaboration with Hessel Valley Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Warren and the presenters of Scandinavian Folkdrakter (folk costumes) at the Jamestown Scandinavian Folk Festival. The artwork at Wetmore Gallery will be for sale during their exhibit. Thiry-five percent of all proceeds from this art sale will go to the Library for its Library Midwinter Fund-raising event to be held Jan. 26 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Wetmore Gallery’s Opening Reception Event on Jan. 3 is free and open to public. For more information, call 760-415-6884 or contact ZsebArtPhotography@yahoo.com. The library is located at 205 Market St., Warren, Pa.
