SILVER CREEK — For many Christmas is a time of traditions. In Silver Creek, one of those is Christmas in the Park, hosted each year by the Kiwanis Club of Silver Creek.
This weekend was no different than years past with a line of eager children and their families lined up from the entrance of The Backline on Park Place to the corner of Central Avenue.
All those gathered were awaiting the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as other activities inside. Santa’s reindeer, Dancer, also made an appearance.
While waiting outside, families could grab hot cocoa and baked goods from the Silver Creek Cross Country Booster Club.
Inside, children sat on old St. Nick’s lap near the fire place and got a goodie bag from Mrs. Claus before coloring shirts and having their faces painted by Key Club members.

“I love that this event has become a tradition for families in our area,” Kiwanis Club member and event organizer Matt Bogosian said. “I spoke to a mom who came to The Backline as a teen and now she is bringing her kids here to see Santa. Another mom told me her kids have a T-shirt from every year. They wear them on Christmas Eve and that part of our event has become a tradition for them.”
Bogosian thanked all who made this year’s event a success, including Stitchez, Rite Aid, the Silver Creek Fireman’s Association, the Masonic Silver Lodge and Park Place Real Estate.
