The Eighth Annual American Legion Post 59 Fredonia Car Cruise in September raised the most money and had the biggest turnout so far.

Participants from the Lake Shore Street Rod Association proudly showed off their beautiful cars, as well as many other local and distant car enthusiasts. Between the Chinese auction raffle, 50/50, hot dog sales and contributions from the generous customers of Big Rick’s One Stop, owned by Ginger and Rick Pokoj, the event raised $1,415 for the Chautauqua County Veterans Association.

The donation check was handed to the group on Tuesday.

“I would very much like to thank our new sponsor this year, Angelo Rivera from Valley Tire in Dunkirk,” said Carol Marx, event coordinator. “Their donation helped greatly with putting this all together.”

Thanks also goes out to American Legion Post 59 for the venue and band, Sammy Sticker and the Black Jacks. The event also could not have been such a great success without the hard work of Marx’s friends and family — Debbie and Keith Panek, Mike and Kim Tofil, Terry and Astrid Dietzen, John Giordano and Samantha and Kyle Mikula.

A special thanks goes out to the local businesses for their donations that were used for the auction and door prizes.

This year’s pin-up girl contest brought glamour and style to the car cruise. First place went to Brenda Hegner. Second place went to Lucy Bell. Third place went to Haley Carman.
