CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY EXECUTIVE WILL NOT SEEK REELECTION
MAYVILLE, N.Y.: — County Executive Vince Horrigan delivered his final State of the County on Wednesday, February 22nd, ending his presentation with the announcement that he will not seek reelection.
“Throughout my 2 years as Chautauqua County Legislator and over 3 years as Chautauqua County Executive, I have been privileged to work closely with my fellow elected officials and side by side with an incredible County workforce in order to improve the lives of the citizens of Chautauqua County,” said Horrigan. “As stated in this, my 4th and final State of the County address, I am very proud of the tremendous progress we have made in so many areas. Of course the work never ends and there is always more to be done.”
Following a 27 year career in the United States Air Force Vince and his wife Barbara, moved to their family home in Bemus Point in May of 1998. Horrigan served as Executive Director of the county-wide Red Cross chapter and then Executive Director of the Southwestern NY Chapter serving Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany Counties until 2011.
On January 2, 2012, Vince was sworn in as Chautauqua County Legislator representing the towns of Ellery and Southeastern Chautauqua. He served one two-year term as County Legislator and then on January 1, 2014 was sworn in as Chautauqua County Executive serving as CEO of Chautauqua County Government.
“I am a firm believer that new ideas and new energy comes from new leaders. After careful consideration and close consultation with my wonderful wife, who has always supported me in every endeavor I have undertaken, I have decided not to run for a second term as Chautauqua County Executive. At this time in our lives we need to be free to spend more time with our kids and grandkids who live in the panhandle of Florida,” said Horrigan. “With this said, I want every resident of Chautauqua County to know that I will keep the throttles in afterburner pushing hard for continued progress until the last day of my term as your County Executive.”
