City hires deputy director of development

E. J. Hayes

The city of Dunkirk’s Planning and Development Department is at full capacity once again with the recent hiring of E.J. Hayes as the deputy director of development.

Hayes takes the position vacated by Nicole Waite and is ready to start his new role.

“I’m excited to work with the development and planning department, the council and the mayor. This is my hometown and I’m excited to see what I can do here to help better the city and see some of the great plans they have come to fruition,” he said after the recent Common Council meeting.

Mayor Willie Rosas said he is happy to have Hayes on board.

“I think he’s a good addition to our team. Our planning and development department has been very busy and adding him as deputy director is definitely a plus for the team. He started today and part of the process of orientation is new staff members have to come meet with the mayor. I met with him today and gave him my expectations and I think he’s going to be a really good addition to the team and I look forward to working with him,” he said.
