Reckless driver hits parade, no one injured

More than 2,000 people attended the Dunkirk Memorial Day parade, which was greeted early on by an unruly driver.

At the start of the parade a small sedan somehow managed to get on the parade route, causing chaos and fear. The driver, who appeared to be young, drove toward the lake on the right side of Central Avenue passing the review stand right as the first group of marchers were making their way toward City Hall from Lakeshore Drive.

Fortunately, the driver, who was motoring at about 30 mph on the street, did not hit or harm anyone. But the driver did strike fear into many who witnessed the person going in the opposite direction as parade-goers.

Police apparently had a license plate number and are considering pressing charges.
