Cherry Creek to brief public on dissolution

CHERRY CREEK — Interested stakeholders will have an opportunity to learn more about the village of Cherry Creek’s dissolution process on Wednesday, June 21 at 7 p.m. at the Cherry Creek Fire Hall.

Acting Mayor Bruce Hendricks informed the OBSERVER of the upcoming meeting in a recent voicemail. He was asked if there was any update on the village’s dissolution process.

“The only thing that has really changed at this point, we will be having a villagewide meeting … in order to discuss the various aspects of the dissolution so that we can bring all this information to the village residents,” he explained. “Various aspects of the dissolution are still under study; the town is examining various parts of the dissolution to see how it will affect them and what they need to do.”

The Cherry Creek Fire Hall is located at 6763 Main St.

Village residents made their collective voices heard when they overwhelmingly voted on Feb. 2 to dissolve their government. The tally was 81 in favor of dissolution and 32 against, according to the Chautauqua County Board of Elections; that’s nearly 72 percent wanting change.
