Boil water advisory remains in effect in Fredonia, Pomfret

Those who are users of the Fredonia water system in the village and town of Pomfret remain under a boil-water advisory. That is the latest from village officials.

According to the post via Facebook, the village notes the county Health Department “will advise us as to when it will be lifted. However, as our system is totally repaired there is no need to conserve water.”

Officials from the county Health Department said the order is expected to last through Tuesday.

Fredonia’s water system was again compromised after a water main break that was discovered Saturday on Chautauqua Road. Due to the break, the village needed to receive water from the city of Dunkirk as levels at the reservoir were at low levels.

The weekend break was the 10th in less than three weeks in the village.
