More than 8 pounds of marijuana seized in drug bust
POMFRET – Local police agencies seized 138 ounces of marijuana, or 8.625 pounds, as well as a quantity of concentrated cannabis, electronic scales, a vacuum sealer, packing materials and a large quantity of U.S. currency from a Pomfret home on Wednesday.
Hammad R. Zaidi, 46, of Main Street, Dunkirk, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana on Wednesday at 4:20 p.m.
After an investigation by Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Dunkirk City Police Department and the United States DEA, a search was issued by County Court Judge Foley. The warrant was without incident and inside, Zaidi was found, police say.
Additional charges will be brought against Zaidi at a later date after the seized items are analyzed. Zaidi was arraigned and committed to Chautauqua County Jail pending further action by the court.
