CCIDA signs project agreement with Athenex
The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) Project Agreement with Athenex, Inc. has been signed and the project continues to move forward. The CCIDA will facilitate real property tax and sales tax abatements to incentivize the development and job creation.
Last year, Athenex announced plans to construct a 320,000 square foot biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility on Lake Shore Drive East, in the town of Dunkirk. The CCIDA began working on the project over two years ago. The initial project investment will be over $200 million.
Over 100 construction jobs will be created. Manufacturing will commence in 2020, and once the facility is fully operational, Athenex projects more than 400 new jobs in over three years. A total of 900 new jobs are anticipated including suppliers.
“The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency is ecstatic to have the opportunity to work with Athenex on this game changing project for Chautauqua County,” said Kevin Sanvidge, CEO of the CCIDA.
“We are honored to have Athenex choose Chautauqua County, which has given us the opportunity to offer these incentives through the Industrial Development Agency,” Sanvidge added.
Athenex is expected to break ground in the first half of 2018. A public hearing on Athenex’s site plans is scheduled for Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. at Jamestown Community’s North County Campus in Dunkirk.
