House used for storage catches fire in city
Dunkirk firefighters this morning quickly doused a fire at an abandoned home on Pelican Street in the city.
The call, which took place directly behind the city’s Eagle Street fire headquarters, came in before 10:15 a.m. No one was injured, but it could have been worse according to witnesses at the scene.
The home, which had been boarded up, was being used for storage. Some of the items inside of the location included old furniture, collectibles — and even worse — gas cans as well as lawnmowers.
Firefighters remained at the scene as of 11 a.m. and there were no reports of injuries.
