Bidding underway for Athenex project

Contractors looking to get in on the construction of Athenex’s state-of-the-art facility can submit bids.

The Pike Company, which provides construction management, design-build and other services, recently announced that sealed bids will be received for the Athenex Manufacturing Facility Project on Lake Shore Drive East in the town of Dunkirk. The Pike Company Inc. is conducting the buyout for the civil, structural and architectural portions of the project.

Four bid packages have been prepared with one for structural steel, one for foundations, one for slab on grade and another for slab on deck. Bids will be received by The Pike Company now through Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. Bids will be opened privately. A pre-bid meeting was held last week at Jamestown Community College’s North County Center Training Facility.

The project is committed to giving 30 percent of the building to Minority and Women Business Enterprise groups.

As for site plan review of the 300,000-square-foot-facility, the Dunkirk Town Planning Board will meet Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at JCC’s North County Center Training Facility to continue its examination.

Rich Nassar, vice president of operations for Athenex, told contractors and suppliers in December that activity on the Lake Shore Drive East site could begin in March 2018. Building, however, isn’t expected until the middle of next year.
