Fatal accident in Irving

No names released in Saturday’s crash on the Seneca Nation of Indians territory

IRVING – Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reported on Saturday that District 5 Deputies and the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) investigated a fatal crash on Route 20 on the Seneca Nation of Indians territory.

Calls to dispatchers came in at 3:08 p.m., Saturday, and when deputies arrived, they observed a vehicle lodged under a trailer towed by a pickup truck.

As of 5 p.m., first responders were attempting to extricate the driver of the vehicle that collided into the back of the trailer. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and an identification has not been made.

Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Southwestern Boulevard and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Route 20 in both directions was closed in both directions and remained closed while CIU continued its investigation.

No charges have been filed and the operator of the struck vehicle was taken to Lake Shore Hospital for evaluation; no reports of injuries at this time.
