Students are gaining real-world experience in careers that they are interested in for their future.

In the first semester of this school year, there were 13 students involved in the internship program and currently in the second semester, 18 students have been placed in internships.

Juniors and seniors can participate and receive a half-credit upon successful completion of the program. Students are placed in a field of choice and work with their mentor(s) for the entire semester to learn as much as possible about a career that they are interested in for their futures. They have a chance to observe and participate in actual work, conduct interviews, take pictures, keep time cards, write journal entries and discuss their likes/dislikes and information they learned each week with the instructor. They also prepare a final presentation about their career and the internship experience.

Some of the business where students have interned this year include: Brooks Memorial Hospital, Fredonia Pediatric Dental, Patient’s Pharmacy, J&S Signs of WNY, 21 Brix Winery, SUNY Fredonia Science Department, SUNY Fredonia Athletic Department, SUNY Fredonia Career Development Office, Chautauqua County Striders, Fredonia Elementary and Middle School, Awesome Bouncers & More, Northern Chautauqua Dental, Verizon Wireless and Dr. Steven Ihrig’s office.
