OBSERVER Photo by Damian Sebouhian A fugitive from the law is taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Tuesday. The fugitive’s name was not released, but he is a 32-year-old from Erie, Pennsylvania.

Dunkirk City Police assisted US Marshals in catching a fugitive from justice, Chief David Ortolano told the OBSERVER around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, just moments after the bust.

“He started out in Erie (Pennsylvania) and (the marshals) followed him from the area to here (Tuesday) morning,” Ortolano said. “(They) called us for some assistance to go in because they tracked him to here.”

Ortolano said that the man, whose name has yet to be released, was to be processed in Dunkirk and turned back over to the marshals.

“Our detectives will do the fugitive-from-justice paperwork and we’ll turn him back over,” Ortolano said.

The alleged fugitive was reportedly hiding out at 221 Mullet St. between 2nd and 3rd streets.

Marshals were observed entering the house and approximately 20 minutes later emerged with the fugitive in handcuffs.

Police are expected to release further details later.
