Motorist transported to UPMC Hamot following Route 5 crash
OBSERVER Staff Report
SHERIDAN — A Jamestown woman was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday after her car veered off Route 5 in the town of Sheridan and hit a tree-lined area near Harrington Road.
New York State Police, along with Sheridan Fire and Chautauqua County EMS, responded to the scene around 10 a.m. Investigation by state police revealed that Patricia A. Bova, 50, was driving eastbound on Route 5 in a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix when she drifted across the westbound lane into a yard and struck a tree.
Bova was airlifted to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pennsylvania. While the motorist’s condition wasn’t released Wednesday, it’s believed that a medical event caused her to crash.
State police said Wednesday the incident remains under investigation.
