Fourth-grader headed to National Pinewood Derby Competition

Submitted Photo Hunter Vincent, 9, won the regional Pinewood Derby competition in Olean recently.

If Cherry Creek’s Hunter Vincent can make it in New York, he can make it anywhere.

On Saturday, June 30, Hunter will be participating in the National Pinewood Derby Competition in Times Square where 350 participants are expected. He earned the honors by winning the regional competition in Olean earlier this spring.

Hunter, a member of Cub Scout Pack 219, is the son of James Vincent and Jill Vincent.

Despite his April win, the family learned only recently of his qualifying for the national competition. He will be raising funds at the Walmart in Fredonia from 1 to 6 p.m. today for the trip and he has also set up a GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/help-hunter-get-to-nyc-pwd-champ.

Hunter, 9, is a fourth-grader at Cassadaga Valley Central School. He is planning on going to the Big Apple competition with his dad and sister.
