Summer projects continue in Silver Creek

SILVER CREEK — It’s full speed ahead in the village. During a recent village board meeting, the board discussed progress on the fountain in the village square, and approved improvements to the village sewer lines and tennis courts.

Mayor Jeffrey Hornburg explained that the iconic fountain has not been running due to a leak. The fountain, which began leaking earlier this spring, will need to be sandblasted and resealed; however, the village has taken advantage of this time to repoint some of the fountain’s block work, which can only be done when the fountain isn’t running. Currently, the village board is considering ideas and designs for a new water ring. Hornburg stated, “We’re looking forward to getting this fixed soon, and the plan is for the fountain to be up and running again before Grape Festival in September.”

Another project that the village has been working on is the sanitary sewer repair, a priority three project involving the relining of the sewer lines, as mandated by the New York DEC. Now in phase three of the project, the village board approved a bid by Kenyon Pipeline Inspection for $944, 050 to reline the sewers.
