NOT AGAIN: Parasailer in distress for second day in a row

Around 1 p.m. Saturday, Dunkirk police and fire responded to Point Gratiot for a report of a parasailer in distress. The bright green sail was visible from the beach, but it was unknown if the sailor was still on the craft. Emergency personnel stood on shore and determined the wind prevented the parasailer from properly being able to control his craft. A jet ski was commissioned to retrieve the sailor and his craft and tow him to the beach. Within a half hour of emergency personnel’s arrival, he was safely delivered to the beach. Dunkirk officials said this is the second similar incident in two days, with a parasailer in distress off Main Street Beach on Friday.
