Anne L. Skrypek

Anne L. Skrypek, 88, of Dunkirk died peacefully Friday afternoon (Nov. 25, 2016) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk.

She was born March 17, 1928 in the town of Hanover, the daughter of the late Meryl and Florence (Bernett) Perkins.

A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, Class of 1946. Anne retired from JC Penney’s after working there for 44 years. She loved her job, and customers. She always had a smile for everyone.

Anne was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle and Rummy, and was an accomplished seamstress.

Survivors include three daughters, Penelope (late Pat) Bailen of Fredonia, and Kristen (Jim) Jaffray and Jacqueline Miller, both of Dunkirk; eight grandchildren, Kathy Beilen, Shannan Jaffray, James Jaffray, Laurie Trinch, Daniel and Nicholas Miller, Heather Barnett, and Courtney Bailen; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Authur Skrypek, who died Nov. 7, 1998; four sisters, Eileen McKay, Dorothy Barecca, Mary Lou Mignoli and Velma Denea; and one brother, Marvin Grantier.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis G. Riter will officiate. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 26 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dunkirk Free Library.
