Edward M. Urbank

Orchard Park — Edward M. Urbank, formerly of Gowanda, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 at Hospice of Buffalo surrounded by family.

Born Sept. 28, 1930 in Gleasonton, Pa, the son of Martin and Mary (Pirc) Urbank.

Edward retired from NYS, he worked as a vocational instructor at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center where he taught upholstery. Ed worked for the state nearly 40 years before retiring.

Edward married the former Patricia Kay in Youngstown, NY on June 5, 1954. Patricia passed away July 15, 2016.

Survivors include four sons: Michael (Pamela) Urbank of Glendale, AZ., Daniel (Deborah) Urbank of Collins, Thomas Urbank of Lockport and Andrew (Amy) Urbank of Lakeview, NY; along with three daughters: Kay Ann (William) Snyder of Apalachin, NY, Joanne (Scott) Bolton of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Theresa (Christopher) Parish of Orchard Park. 24 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, along with a sister, Helen (late Frank) Mikol survive. Ed is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by three brothers: David, Leo and Joseph Selan; four sisters: Justine Couchman, Frances Mlacker, Olga Leonard and Mary Krall; and three grandchildren: Victoria Urbank, Ryan Urbank and Sara Ann Snyder.

Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME, 44 Center St., Gowanda, (716)-532-4200 from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. A Memorial Mass will take place Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from the St. Joseph’s RC Church East Main St. Gowanda (please assemble at church). Interment to follow in the Jolls Cemetery. Fr. Joseph Porpiglia Celebrant.
