James Joseph Sell

James Joseph Sell, age 73, of Fredonia, NY, formerly of Dunkirk, NY, died Wednesday January 18, 2017 at his Fredonia home.   James was born on February 23, 1943, the son of the late Harry Sell and Florence Boryczka Sell.

He graduated from Cardinal Mindszenty High School in 1960.  James was employed with the city of Dunkirk as chief water plant operator from August 1966 until his retirement in January 2002.

He was an active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Fredonia. He served as a Parish Council officer, was a member of the Parish choir and a longtime Parish bingo worker.

He coached for the Dunkirk Little League Baseball and Babe Ruth Baseball league. James loved gardening and working in his yard.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ann Munson Sell. They married on August 15, 1964. He is also survived by his son, James A. (Sherry); his daughter Tina (Edziu) Wallace; his sister Claudia (Thomas) Sullivan; grandchildren, Nicholas Wallace, Alessandra Sell, Roman Starman, Daniel Roses (Matt Lambright), and Jessica Munson; his aunt, Shirley Boryczka; sisterinlaw, Mickey (Robert) Mitchell; brotherinlaw Henry Munson; 12  nephews, Michael (Val), Daniel (Deborah), Timothy (Bonnie), and Thomas (Cheryl) Sullivan, Jay Mitchell, Benjamin, Anthony, Samuel and Isaac Munson, Scott (Susan), Tim (Erica) and Matt (Tina) Munson; six nieces, Lori Dow, Phoebe (Jon) Long, Heather (Josh) Sanders, Brandy (Steve) Smith, Kim (Steve) Butcher, and Reba Munson

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Tammy Jo Sell; his son, Thomas Munson; sisterinlaw, Gail Munson; brotherinlaw, Harry Munson; and his nephew, Jed Mitchell, along with many aunts and uncles.

Calls may be made on Sunday from 24 and 68 p.m. at the LARSON  TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, NY, where prayers will be offered Monday at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 145 E. Main Street, Fredonia, NY at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
