Martha Lucas

Martha Lucas was lifted up to Heaven on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. She was born on July 5, 1929.

A lifelong resident of the area, Martha helped run family farms in Forestville, then in Sheridan. Her talents, which she lovingly shared with others, included knitting, sewing, needle-work and crafts and doing crossword puzzles. Her stories of growing up were often told to eager listeners at family gatherings. She was an extraordinary cook and baker, always making sure no visitor left her kitchen hungry. Her strong Christian faith was evident in her daily life and kind deeds. Friends and family were blessed to know her and she will be greatly missed.

Martha was predeceased by her parents John and Anna Urbanik; brothers Joseph and Walter Urbanik, sisters Helen Urbanik, Katherine Klocko, Sophie Loeb and Victoria Ryby.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Charles Lucas, sons Steven (Sue) Lucas of Sheridan, Daniel Lucas of New Jersey; daughters Ann Lucas of Pennsylvania, Mary (Charles) Mills of Fredonia; grandsons Steven (Dianna) Lucas of South Dayton, Andrew Constantinides of Florida, Damon (Beth) Constantinides of Pennsylvania, granddaughters, April (Carl) Kellerman of Fredonia, Jasmine and Aurora Mills of Fredonia and three great-granddaughters; Maddie and Katie Kellerman and Jacobia Constantinides. Martha is also survived by a brother, Edward Urbanik of Dunkirk, a sister, Adele Anzalone of Buffalo, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church in Fredonia. The service will begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by a gathering for reflections and light refreshments.
