Thomas G. Jones
Thomas G. Jones, age 66, passed away on Feb. 4, 2017 after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Throughout his life, Tom captivated family, friends and audiences, large and small, young and old, with his magical expertise and sense of humor. It started at Sunset Bay Park in his hometown of Sunset Bay, New York. Tom performed tricks and illusions behind the bar and during Labor Day festivities at the family-owned amusement park. Later, he moved to Rochester, New York and worked in public relations for Genesee Brewery. Tommy worked in radio and television as a popular motivational speaker and television and radio personality. Pursuing his dream of becoming a professional magician, Tom headed south to Florida several years ago, and made his home in Treasure Island.
Tom was the oldest of five children born to Dorothy Mary (Burghardt) and Frances Jones. He was predeceased by his parents; youngest sister, Beth; and cousin, Mark. Tom will be sadly missed by his brother, William (Tamara) of Lake George; sisters, Cyndy Jones-Gailey of Sunset Bay and Sandy (Richard) Eggleston of Rochester; and his aunt and uncle, Donald and Phyllis Burghardt of Silver Creek; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his longtime companion, Elizabeth Ottani.
