Anthony J. Sack, 84, of Silver Creek, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, April 13, 2017 at the Elderwood at Ham-burg Nursing Home in Hamburg, NY.

Tony was born on October 28, 1932 in Silver Creek, NY, the son of the late Dominick and Grace (Borrello) Sack.

A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Silver Creek High School, Class of 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during the Kore-an Conflict. Tony married the love of his life, Marie LaPorte, on October 29, 1955 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Westfield, NY, and together they raised four sons.

Tony worked for the South Buffalo Railway in Lackawanna, NY as a supervisor, retiring with over 40 years of employment. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Silver Creek. He participated in the Mt. Carmel Social Club where he helped to organize their trips. Tony was a 3rd degree Knight and past treasurer in the Knights of Columbus. When his boys were growing up he was a Scout Master for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, Pack 52. He also coached the Excelco Little League baseball team.

Tony was Papa to everybody and he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren playing sports, hunting, woodworking, gardening and painting.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years, Marie (LaPorte) Sack; three sons, Dominic “Mic” (Patti) Sack of Whitney Pt., NY, Anthony (Debora) Sack of Silver Creek, Marc (Heath-er) Sack of Swartz Creek, MI; two brothers, John (Virge) Sack of Silver Creek and Salvatore Sack of Dunkirk, NY; a sister, Nel (Charles) Rizzo of N. Collins, NY; 11 grandchildren, Joel (Natalie) Sack, Emily (Derek) DeCeilio, David Sack, Cammie Sack, Adam (Marcy) Barrows, Sarah (Zach Roberts) Sack, Ashleigh Morehead, Bran-don Sack, Miranda (Jacob Martin) Sack, Faith and Angelo Sack; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by a son, David Sack; a grandson, Daniel Sack; two brothers, Patrick and Domenick Sack; and a sister, Anna Gerrity.

Relatives and friends may call at the Hole-Parker Funeral Chapel, 160 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, 135 Central Ave., Silver Creek, with Fr. Daniel Fiebelkorn officiating. Please assemble at the church. Interment will be at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
