Gordon E. Lind

Gordon E. Lind, 79, of Cassadaga, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Born Aug. 2, 1937, in Jamestown, a son of the late Richard Sr. and Mae Edson Lind. He was a 1955 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School. Gordy was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1956-1958. He was employed for 30 years at Great Lakes Color Printing, Dunkirk as a pressman, a foreman and was a schedule manager in 1989 when they closed. Gordy then was a pressman at Arkwright Printing, Fredonia until retiring in 2011. In retirement he drove a school bus for First Student in the Dunkirk School District. He and his wife operated Wayward Wind Farm, raising registered Holstein dairy cattle. Gordy was a past member of the Cassadaga Memorial American Legion Post #1280, Tuesday Night Men’s Golf League at Cassadaga Country Club, PotterLisi Bowling League at Cassadaga Bowling and Lucky Lanes, various horseshoe leagues, and was a former coach of Cassadaga Baseball from Farm team through Babe Ruth. He en- joyed all sports and playing outdoor games. He was an avid Yankees and Sabres fan, sponsored cars at State Line Speedway, watched and attended NASCAR races and was a former Bills season ticket holder. Husband of 59 years to Onnolee Carlson Lind, whom he married May 3, 1958; father of Debra J. (David) Wittmeyer of Ham- burg, Diane E. (Todd) Mekus of Sinclairville and Dean C. (Kristene) Lind of Philadelphia, PA; grandfather of Brian and Matthew Wittmeyer, Tyler Mekus, Paige and Ava Lind; great-grandfather of Maya Wittmeyer; brother of Richard (Skip) Lind of Sinclairville, Charles (Judy) Lind of Frewsburg and Wayne (Carolyn) Lind of Gerry. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday in Jordan Fun- eral Home, Sinclairville. Military honors provided by Cassadaga Memorial American Legion Post #1280. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Private burial in Cassadaga Cemetery.
