Mary A. Kozlowski

Mary Ann (Pencek) Kozlowski, 91, of Dunkirk passed away Saturday afternoon (May 27, 2017) at the Absolut Care of Dunkirk with her family by her side.

She was born June 26, 1925 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Paul and Lillian (Czechowski) Pencek.

A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mary was a dedicated parishioner of Blessed Mary Angela Parish, Church of St. Hyacinth. She enjoyed bingo, knitting, sewing, word search puzzles and playing cards, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid Yankee fan whose favorite player was Derek Jeter.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Thomas) Griffiths, Sandra Gizowski, and Cynthia Kozlowski, all of Dunkirk; one son, Gary (Carol) Kozlowski of Forestville; one sister, Margaret Peggy Bienckowski of FL; eight grandchildren, Chad Griffiths, Brian (Julie) Griffiths, Jeffrey Gizowski, Jennifer (Bret) Gizowski, Timothy Kozlowski, Christopher (Nicole) Kozlowski, Tara (Bridget) Graves, and Nicole Welka; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Kozlowski who died in 1985; one son, Michael Kozlowski in 1999; two brothers, Joseph Pencek and Henry Pencek; and her sister, Pauline DeMonte.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9:15 from the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o’clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish, Church of St. Hyacinth. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery.
